Who we are

Meet the devoted men who faithfully serve as the Elders and Deacons of Fellowship of the Way Church. Each leader is committed to walking in humility, serving with compassion, and guiding our church family with wisdom and grace.

Rooted in prayer and grounded in Scripture, our Elders provide spiritual oversight and encouragement, helping to nurture the faith of our congregation. Our Deacons joyfully serve by meeting practical needs, supporting ministries, and ensuring that the love of Christ is felt throughout our church and community.

Together, they embody the heart of servant leadership — dedicated to advancing God’s Kingdom, strengthening His people, and living out the Gospel every day.

Elders

Shane Schlatter: Elder & Lead Pastor

Shane serves as the Lead Pastor and an Elder at Fellowship of the Way. He lives in southwest Jefferson County with his wife, Courtney, and their four children. Shane and his family are humbled and honored to serve their community and share God’s love in practical ways. He desires to see the Kingdom of God invade this world—beginning in southwest Jefferson County and reaching to the ends of the earth—through the transformation of people’s lives as they submit to the reign of King Jesus. He has served as the Executive Director of Exodus Family Ministries for the past five years and has previously ministered in various pastoral roles, including Youth Pastor, Outreach Pastor, and Interim Pastor.

James “Bud” Danhauser: Elder

Bud Daunhauer has been called by God to a life of service and takes that calling to heart. He has been blessed with a loving and understanding wife of nearly 50 years who faithfully supports him in ministry. As an elder, Bud’s desire is to help the body of Christ grow in faith, to walk alongside others, and to mentor believers in their journey with God. Through the influence of faithful mentors and his connection with Exodus Family Ministries, Bud continues to walk a path he never expected or deserved—one that God has graciously set before him. Fellowship of the Way is where God has led him to serve and build up His church.

Tom Jacks: Elder

Tom Jacks has been blessed to serve the Lord through Exodus Family Ministries for the past five years. He currently serves on the board of Exodus and as an Elder at Fellowship of the Way. Tom and his wife, Kristie, have been married for 33 years and are the proud parents of four children and grandparents of three. Together, they have served as foster parents and were blessed to adopt a child, reflecting their deep compassion for families and people of all nations.

Tom’s passion for Christ fuels his heart for service and his commitment to God’s Word. He is especially drawn to James 1:27—“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” He firmly believes that generational curses can and will be broken through the power of Christ working in the lives of His disciples.
